The data analysis on the development status of photovoltaic glass in China


 The superior light transmittance of photovoltaic glass is the key to improving power generation efficiency. The higher the light transmittance, the higher the power generation efficiency of the photovoltaic module. Ultra-white glass has become the only choice for making photovoltaic glass due to its excellent light transmittance. It is made through deep processing processes such as tempering, coating, and glazing to achieve the required physical and chemical properties. The iron content of ultra-white glass is less than 0.015%, which is much lower than ordinary glass, thus ensuring a light transmittance of over 91.5%, which is about 3% higher than ordinary tempered glass. In addition, the lower content of impurities such as nickel sulfide in ultra-white glass enhances its impact resistance and improves the explosion-proof rate.

  China's photovoltaic glass industry is currently in a stage of rapid growth. This development trend is mainly driven by the growth of installed photovoltaic modules and the increase in the penetration rate of double-glass modules. Under the guidance of the national carbon peak and carbon neutrality strategies, the proportion of clean energy use in China continues to increase, among which photovoltaic power generation occupies an important position. Since 2018, the proportion of China's new photovoltaic power generation in new infrastructure power generation has continued to grow, reaching 12.9% by 2021. This trend reflects China's important progress in clean energy and the rapid development of the photovoltaic industry.

  At present, China has become the country with the largest installed photovoltaic capacity in the world. It is expected that by 2026, China's installed photovoltaic capacity will reach approximately 1,000GW. The rapid growth of photovoltaic module installed capacity not only promotes the development of the photovoltaic industry, but also brings huge growth opportunities to the photovoltaic glass industry. The China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) predicts that the penetration rate of double-glass photovoltaic modules will continue to increase in the future. Since double-glass photovoltaic modules have a greater demand for photovoltaic glass than single-glass modules, this will further promote the growth of the photovoltaic glass industry.

  According to the latest market research, the installed capacity of photovoltaic glass is expected to grow to between 5.231 million tons and 6.381 million tons by 2027, and the compound annual growth rate between 2022 and 2027 is expected to be 6.6% to 7.5%. This growth will be driven by both the growth in the installed capacity of photovoltaic modules and the increase in the penetration rate of double-glass photovoltaic modules.
